The OBE Project brings together more than two decades of personal records concerning lucid dreams, apparent out-of-body experiences, false awakenings, transitional sleep phenomena and related altered states of consciousness.
The project combines a retrospective archive beginning in 1999 with a prospective research journal commenced in 2026. Historical records are preserved in their original form, while contemporary classification and analysis are kept separate from the original interpretation of events.
The purpose of the project is not to assume that apparent out-of-body experiences are either objectively external events or conventional dreams. Instead, the archive is being examined for recurring phenomenology, differences between states, verification attempts, failures, environmental correspondences and changes in awareness across time.
